Despite the fact that Ghana is looked at as a leader in Sub-Saharan Africa, poverty remains pervasive throughout the country: Half of Ghana’s population lives beneath the poverty line. This mostly includes children living on the street in the country’s many slums.

Our team will partner with Sovereign Global Missions (a Nondenominational Christian NGO) to help with many of their projects including: Kantamanto Street Children Outreach which is a Sunday bible lesson and food program (for many of the children this is the only meal they receive all week), construction with the Adoteiman Child Development Center which will serve as a school and orphanage for children in a remote village outside Accra, and educating the community about HIV/AIDS. The team may also participate in street evangelism and teaching the men, women, and children within the sponsoring church.

Additionally, the team will have the opportunity to visit Elimina Castle, which was one of the most important stops in the Atlantic Slave trade and now is in an area where the selling of children as slaves continues.
