08 Spain
Estimated cost: $2100
Dates: July 2010 (specific dates TBD)
Trip leader: Chris Jarrell, chris@theaterchurch.com
With 42 million people, less than .2% of the Spanish population consider themselves evangelical or born again Christians. This means, as a country, it has one of the lowest percentages of active believers in the world. Although Spain is known to be a Catholic nation historically, statistics confirm that less than 5% of the population consider themselves practicing Catholics and only 35% consider themselves nominal Catholics. While it may be said that Spain is still culturally Catholic, it is really best described as a post-modern, post-Christian and post-catholic nation.
That said, our team will partner with Brent Vermillion, a missionary and church-planter. We’ll be helping with various types of service outreaches in Madrid and Valencia.
