Give a gift that meets a need this holiday season! Here you will find practical ways that our community can reach across oceans and powerfully bless others. As you read this, dozens of deaf children in Nicaragua are receiving an education for the very first time and women and girls in Thailand are learning new skills in order to make new lives for themselves and their families after being grossly exploited by the sex trade. Be a part of what God is doing! |

Developing community is crucial for personal growth. Community tends to happen naturally with those who are most like you. But what about those who are not like you? What if they don’t look like you or dress like you? What if they don’t hear like you? How then do you go beyond the boundaries of culture to create community of love and acceptance. Matt and Eva have not only established the first school for the deaf in Nicaragua, they are now building a Coffeehouse! This coffeehouse will meet a crucial need to bridge a gap between cultures.

Beza International Church has a vision for redeeming Africa. Beza Entoto Outreach works with people living with HIV. They provide job training, tutoring, medical help, and food supplements to a large, impoverished community just outside the city. Instead of carrying huge loads of firewood down the mountain, Beza is empowering women with new opportunities to spin cotton, which can be used to make traditional scarves and blankets. Through weekly breakfasts with the pastors and bi-monthly soccer matches, Beza is building relationships with vulnerable children living on the streets of Addis in the hopes of evolving those relationships into educational, shelter, and social support.

I recalled what Richard, a staff worker at The Well said: “If we’re still sitting here in 10 years time with the girls making cards we have failed… we want to develop the skills the girls already have so they can go back and be tentmakers. We’re trying to develop leaders.” The women at The Well use art to connect with the damage in their lives; the art they produce is as real as that damage, and it brings something beautiful out of their pain. Evil was intended, yet good is produced. As the Gospel transforms people, nations are transformed by default.

Bolivia
NCC is sending a team to Bolivia this Christmas to work with Children’s International Network. We're hoping to demonstrate God’s love to children and at-risk youth, and to train, equip and network leaders to do the same. CIN has developed a program that provides support and teaching materials to pastors around the world and through their orphanage in Bolivia, South America. The Bolivia Life Center is home to nearly eighty boys with traumatic past experiences of physical, sexual and emotional abuse. All of the boys were abandoned by their parents.
